John Paul Fauves is a contemporary Costa Rican artist known for his expressive takes on popular culture icons such as Snow White and Mickey Mouse.

 

Employing painting style which quotes from Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, Fauves mashes up Modernism with Pop Art.  Born in 1980 in Costa Rica, he studied under Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso as a youth.

 

Since moving to the United States, the artist’s focus has been on attempting to probe the depths of a human being’s loss of innocence. Fauves currently lives and work in New York, NY.
